Dear Delaireans: 12/30/18
Since the very first day this website was launched, at least one thing has never changed. That is the slogan in the footer of the site that states: “SECURE THE VOTE, LOCK THE BOX”. As we approach the 2 year anniversary of the site, it’s important to understand that this site was never meant to upset home sales, as the club would have you believe. In fact, the statistics suggest otherwise. In March of 2017, a letter was sent to the Board, informing them that a website had been created and the purpose was to secure the voting system at Delaire CC. The change wasn’t really anything too radical. Below is an excerpt from the letter which details the changes desired:
To restructure the secret ballot system, Delaire must have their ballots placed into a tamper proof ballot box locked with the keys in the hands of the Inspectors of election. The ballot box to be in full view of the members at all times, to be opened only on the day the votes are counted. No board member or employee must ever touch the ballots.
This doesn’t sound too crazy. Who could object to that? Our Board objected to that. Then I asked for some Club records to which I’m entitled and the club refused. I had to hire an attorney for $3020 to get the records, which the club eventually supplied. I went to small claims court to recover my money, which is provided for in Florida State Statutes. By then, we were off to the races. At the end of May, 2017, Steve Salzman filed a grievance against me, which was denied, only because I filed one against him for making a false claim. Then there was the WIPO challenge and Karpel’s sham grievance against me and ultimately a one year illegal suspension. You can read about all these things at this page, https://www.delairegovernance.com/ln-archives, they are all in chronological order so you can easily follow.
So from a simple request for a different ballot box with multiple keys in the hands of the inspectors, it has now blossomed into a two year saga. People are eager to lay the blame at my feet, but rest assured, I never wanted this. Now it has turned into a legal quagmire without any apparent exit. Maybe all Delaireans should go back to that Archives page and have a look. For want of a couple of padlocks and a secure ballot box, here we sit. I tried to work it out beforehand and I’ve tried to work it out since. My guess is that there are a couple of large egos that are against any settlement just because it’s me and they won’t be seen succumbing to someone whose reputation and image they have tried so hard to destroy through lies, rumor and innuendo.
With my warmest regards,
